Optimist: someone who figures that taking a step backward after taking a step forward is not a disaster, it's a cha-cha. ~Robert Brault, www.robertbrault.com

Optimism is the foundation of courage. ~Nicholas Murray Butler

In the long run the pessimist may be proved right, but the optimist has a better time on the trip. ~Daniel L. Reardon

After 5000 years of recorded human history, you wonder, What part of 2,000,000 sunrises doesn't a pessimist understand? ~Robert Brault, www.robertbrault.com

A pessimist is one who makes difficulties of his opportunities and an optimist is one who makes opportunities of his difficulties. ~Harry Truman

Wow. As an admitted pessimist, those last two really hit home. I've been trying to improve that aspect of myself. Thanks for the inspiration. :)

I've been accused to too much optimism! The glass isn't just half full - it's overflowing.

I definitely need some more optimism in my life. For all of my joking, I am quite the pessimist. Excellent 'o' post!

Thanks for visiting my blog, and good luck with the rest of the April blogfest!

Good for you for being an optimist!

My father's side of the family is filled with pessimists, so I try to counterbalance it. There's always something to complain about, but why not focus on what there is to celebrate?

Oh, I am the optimist married to the pessimist. If it weren't for my delusional leaps forward, dragging him along, we'd never get anywhere. (he is pessimistic to the point of debilitation). I love all these quotes, though. I really believe in the power of optimism, even if every now and then, reality crashes down around me.

The Truman is my favorite. I think I'm a little of both, but mainly I'm optimistic.
