yes, i'm still around, and writing

an exerpt from my sequel. still tweaking this scene. the book is coming along slowly.

Blessing people was Dorinda’s favorite task, but it still took a toll. As soon as she touched someone, her mind was connected to theirs. Her mental shield protected her to a certain degree, but some things always came through the barrier. She had learned to ignore most thoughts and emotions. Secrets, however, were more difficult. They almost always came with guilt and pain.

Now as she closed the door behind her, the familiar weariness of being with people settled in her heart. Sleep was the best medicine. But sleep would have to wait.

She had her own secrets. And Arathor needed to hear them.

Good to hear from you.

I love the idea of this. I have something similar (though not the same) in one of my books. I just like the idea of thoughts seeping out to certain, gifted people. And I really like that secrets are the hardest thing to hide. Very cool

I love the phrase about the weariness of being with people. I feel like that sometimes :-), though probably not for the same reasons as your character.
