IWSG - listen to the rat

or maybe it's listen to the chef...

let me back up and start over.

(this is one of my favorite posts from the past and since i'm getting ready to go on vacation for the 4th, it was easier to modify an old post than to come up with a new one.)

i never know how God is going to encourage me. one night i was watching Ratatouille with my kids (one of my all-time favorite movies) and i heard Chef Gusteau say something about cooking.

"Great cooking is not for the faint of heart – you must be imaginative, strong-hearted. You must try things that may not work. You must not let anyone define your limits because of where you come from. Your only limit is your soul. It is true that anyone can cook – only the fearless can be great."

"Food always comes to those who cook."

so when i write, i want to remember to be strong-hearted. i want to try things that may not work. i will not let anyone define me because of where i've come from or because of my lack of experience or because i publish independently. if i want to be a great writer, i will look to God to make me fearless.

and when i can't find the words, i will try to remember that words will always come to those who write.

to read posts from other Insecure Writers, you can go to Alex's blog.

and in case you're interested, next Monday, a blogging friend is going to interview me about why i started blogging and why i continue to blog.

Lesson's learned from Disney. Love it. Very inspiring post. Keep doing what your doing.

Love this! I'd say be fearless, but that's not quite right - fear is an emotion and we can't choose our feelings. But we can be courageous and write bravely despite our fears. (This is actually the theme of Book 4, so I have it on the brain.) Thanks for posting this.

I need to watch that movie again. I love how the words come when you write, even if you're in a terrible mood or discouraged... that's why I journal a lot too.

I'm doing the same thing right now, Michelle... falling into the category of things that may not work: I am trying to write some romance into my WIP and I'm horrible at romance...so we shall see how this comes out!

And I love the message of this post. Yes, I agree--words always WILL come to those who write. Writing is the key to keeping those words coming!

Wise words, indeed. And I might even have to watch the film too.
