first loves and a thesaurus for emotions

as usual, i decided to play along at the last minute. such is my life right now. as Alex says: on May 14, post your first loves – first movie, first song/band, first book, and first person. Four loves, one blogfest! to see all the posts, go to Alex's blog.

first movie - i grew up in the early 60's, so i don't remember many movies from my childhood. (i *do* remember going to the drive-in a lot because we didn't have many sit-in theaters. i just don't remember what movies we watched.) the first movie i remember really loving is Star Wars. we stood in a line that stretched around the El Dorado theater. i still think the cgi and motion stop are amazing.

first song/band - my mom had a huge record collection and i remember listening to the group Bread. i loved all their songs. probably because i was a romantic at heart.

first book - i've loved books for as long as i can remember. i even worked in the library at my grade school and my junior high. i know i had at least two favorites i checked out repeatedly -- The Ghost of Opalina  (which i now realize has a creepy cover but i don't remember it being a creepy book) and The Velvet Room.

first love - no contest. Adam West as Batman. i wanted to marry him when i was 6 or 7. of course, now my one and only love is my husband.

and now for the thesaurus news -- Angela and Becca over at The Bookshelf Muse have written a great book that will help with your writing -- The Emotion Thesaurus. this is an in depth resource that gives you all the non-verbal cues for 75 different emotions. lucky you-- it's available today in physical and e-book form.

Adam West! Now that is funny. I remember those long lines for Star Wars. Stood in them several times and almost picked that movie for today.
Thanks for participating in my blogfest!

How amazing just to be waiting in line for a film the magnitude of Star Wars - definitely an event!

I just listened to Bread -Diary and really loved it. They remind me of Nick Drake. Very soft, beautiful, mellow. Great stuff! It was fun reading about your firsts :)
