blogging confession

so, all those lovely blogs i followed during the A-Z challenge -- and i only followed bloggers with whom i thought i might have a future connection because they write fantasy or they were a new writer or an indie author -- i can't remember which blogs they are. now when i go through my blog roll in the blogger dashboard, i don't know who is who. sad.

so if i started following your blog and you happened to follow back and you read this post, now you'll know why i haven't commented on your blog since A-Z. sorry.

i suppose i could go back to each blog on my list and figure out who is who and sort them into more manageable chunks or something, but that would take a huge amout of time that i just don't have right now. and the thought of dumping a large portion makes me feel disloyal somehow.

guess i should have made a list when i did the challenge, but i didn't. such is life.

It occurs to me that if they're blogs with something that you want to read, you'll comment anyway, while if you're having to force yourself, maybe it's not the right thing.

I simply make an effort to scroll through the new posts on the feed on my dashboard. I make a visit, leave a quick comment. Sometimes there's a good discussion, and sometimes it's just to acknowledge that I'm still following. I think it's good to maintain the connections, and to have that broad base for when you have something big to share. I also list all the blogs I follow on my blog, which gives those other bloggers a shot at being visited by my visitors. But what I'm deciding is this: if I make the effort visit and comment, but the other person NEVER does, then eventually I will stop followin them. It's that two-way street thing.

Don't worry, I have no idea who's from the Challenge and who's not. Those that commented a couple times on my posts were moved to my daily list, but the others...

I wish I'd done a better job of organizing my blogrolls, keeping track of A to Z bloggers, and leaving comments. I'm trying to get caught up by using my Google reader, and that does speed up the process a little.

Think about it this way.... you don' visit with all of your friends every day. You don't talk to everyone you know and have grand conversations. Just enjoy the journey! Here's a confession... I'm still going through the list!

I do this all the time too. I follow people for whatever reason and when they show up on my blogroll I wonder who they are. Some days I comment. Others, not so much. I don't sweat the small stuff.
