A-Z - courage

i realized yesterday that these quotes could be rather impersonal, so i thought i'd add a quick something to the beginning of each post--not sure what. guess i'll just wing it.

at first this was going to be a post about creativity, but then i realized that although creativity is necessary, without courage, you may never use your creativity. i had stories inside of me, but until i took up the courage to write them, they were stuck there. when i finally let them out, it opened up a floodgate of creativity and i can't stop writing.

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I'll try again tomorrow. ~Mary Anne Radmacher

Nearly every man who develops an idea works it up to the point where it looks impossible, and then he gets discouraged. That's not the place to become discouraged. ~Thomas A. Edison

Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point. ~C.S. Lewis

Courage is fear holding on a minute longer. ~George Smith Patton

Courage is being scared to death... and saddling up anyway. ~John Wayne (we love John Wayne, so this is my favorite of the bunch today.)

Good idea.

Courage isn't easy but that's part of the point. I know I've seen new writers in forums and groups mentioning they are afraid to let others see their work. It takes courage to send anything to possibly be criticized. Those are good quotes over the topic.

I love the John Wayne one. Definitely true - courage is NOT the same as not being afraid, after all.

Good stuff. And you only see it when it's tested.

I'm glad you chose courage over creativity. It is something I struggle with, and as an aspiring author who is terrified of writing, all I really need is John Wayne to tell me it's okay!

Your words are so true, Michelle! Writing everyday takes tremendous courage. I especially love the first two quotes--very applicable to writers. :o)

Have a great week!

Just stopping by to say hi. I'm doing the A-Z Challenge too. I read your profile and it seems we have some things in common. I home school my three kids, I've been married nearly 21 years, we are from the deserts of New Mexico but we have lived in Montana for ten years. I miss warm weather...

Very happy to find and follow you, fellow writer and A to Z'er. A move to Butte? Yes, winters will be difficult, after living in AZ.

I Love the quotes from Mary and George. :) Truth. Utter, resonating truth. I'm going to sleep on that.

Thanks, and it's been great perusing your blog today!
