more randomness

♫ A-Z has been interesting to say the least. what i'm really looking forward to is having the alphabet titles disappear so i can get to know new blogging friends without the restriction of "today's post has been brought to you by the letter ?"

♫ i had to restrict how many new blogs i followed, so i limited myself to writers, and fantasy writers in particular. i don't think there are many of us fantasy writers out there. we need to stick together.

♫ why is it that when i'm in the groove of writing, the story comes out of me so fast that my fingers can hardly keep up, but when i think about all the parts that have to come together and how big it is, my brain freezes up? would that be called "performance anxiety"?

♫ we're planning to put our house up for sale in June. that's basically a month away. if you hear shouts of panic, they're coming from me. i'm trying to stay calm. thank goodness we don't plan on moving until September.

♫ i loved having friends over for an Easter party yesterday. i'm very glad for the quiet today.

♫ we're going to another friend's house for an Easter party this afternoon. i'm glad i don't have to be the hostess. i can just veg.

♫ it's so much easier for me to write when i know no one is going to read it. performance anxiety again?

♫ my house is so uncluttered right now that it doesn't feel like my house. it's going to be more uncluttered in the next few months. i wonder if i'll get used to it.

♫ someone asked me in an interview to say a little about my novel. why am i having a hard time figuring out what i want to say about it?

♫ it always feels weird when someone wants to interview me. i'm just a mom who writes. i've always felt like interviews are for famous people. at the same time, i've always wanted to have a voice, and i have it in two venues now - blogging/facebook and writing.

♫ i used to love watching The A-Team t.v. series. after watching the A-Team movie and loving it, the series didn't seem that great. maybe it's because the characters in the movie seemed more real, or there was more danger, or Liam Neeson is nicer to look at than George Peppard. the only character i still like from the series is Murdock. i like the Murdock in the movie, but no one does Murdock like Dwight Schultz.

Fantasy writers absolutely need to stick together! I'm just glad the challenge has given me the opportunity to find so many fantasy writers. For a while I thought the entire world had started writing YA, not that there's anything wrong with that. ;)

It sounds like what you call your "writing groove" is what Dean Wesley Smith calls using your "creative brain". When you start thinking about what you're writing or thinking about your audience you start using your "critical brain". He maintains that good fiction can never come from your "critical brain" and I tend to agree with him.

Michelle, I can lead you to a whole bunch of fantasy writers! If you'd like, I can email you a short list.
And I haven't followed a ton of new people either. I know a couple participants have really racked up the new followers, but that wasn't my goal. I want to get to know some of my new followers, and I can't do that when there's two-three hundred of them.

I enjoyed the series and the movie, but Dirk Benedict will always be Face to me.

Interesting randomness :-)

I've had a blast during the challenge, and met great people, but I'm happy it's coming to an end. I'm looking forward to getting to know my new blogging friends as well, in a more relaxed blogging setting and schedule. :-)

And yes, no one does Murdock like Dwight Schultz! :-)
