bits of news

-- the third draft of Black Heart is coming along, albeit slowly, but it is moving forward, or i should say, i'm moving forward. if only it could write itself and i could just supervise.

-- on that note, i'd hoped to have Black Heart finished and published and ready for release before our move in September. as much as i would like to celebrate it's release with people i know here, i had put too much pressure on myself to finish and have let that go. i don't know when it will be done.

-- Christine Hardy has a great quote about writing and how even when you're not writing you're thinking about writing. go read "That Nagging Feeling."

-- i've come to the conclusion that if i don't use my time more wisely (as in not checking facebook and email countless times a day), i'm not going to have time to write and pack and work on getting my "sitting too long on the couch" writer body into shape. that also means less time fiddling with blogging, or at least being more purposeful when i do.

-- on Thursday, i started a yoga class at a local church and confirmed the fact that this 48 year old body is NOT flexible in the least. even using my 1" thick squishy yoga mat didn't make sitting on the floor any easier. if not for the fact that i joined with a friend, and that it meets the criteria of being less than 5 minutes from my house (so i can drive home after putting my body in positions it balks at), i still wanted to quit.

i'm going back next week. and the week after that. maybe by the time it ends in April (it's only around till then), i'll be a little more flexible. but i *will* have to work on being flexible enough to sit on the floor all the rest of this week and probably a few more.

-- another friend who's been prodding me towards yoga for the last 6 years says that there's a correlation between physical flexibility and mental flexibility. i think it's true.

-- ok, time to get back to writing. or maybe that was packing. wait. i was going to go stretch.

I write because I must.

If I tried yoga, I'd hurt myself...

I know what you mean about the flexibility of the body. I've been on crutches for about a week and I've been bending and stretching so I don't have to move much. Yikes, not working so well.
Good luck with the first draft. I'm working on the second draft of my sixth fantasy romance novel.

Good luck with the yoga! I'm not sure I could get this body to do that either! :)

I like yoga but don't do it without a class, or an instructor. Maybe next year, this year it's walking daily. So far not doing real well with it. But I did finish my novel! Yay!

I always wanted to take yoga, Michelle! Wish we could do it together.

Thanks for the shout-out for my blog.

I saw a greeting card yesterday that describes the whole physical situation perfectly. "You know you're getting older when you wake up with that 'Morning After' feeling and you didn't do anything the night before."

I've been thinking about taking up yoga too. If there's any link between writing and yoga, I'm definitely all over it!
