Writer's Digest Self-Published Book Awards

last year, i entered Eldala in Writer's Digest 17th Annual Self-Published Book Awards. i knew there would be a lot of entries, but i wanted to give it a shot. the judging was back in October, and although i was not among the winners, i did receive the judge's commentary... today.

when asked what he liked about my book, the first thing the judge said was: "Eldala by Michelle Gregory is a fascinating story populated with great characters who instantly draw the reader into their lives..."

on their scale of 1 to 5, the judge gave my novel 4 out 5 in all four categories: Plot, Grammar, Character Development, and Cover Design. not bad for my first attempt at writing.

i'm pleased with the results, especially since the comments come from someone objective - unlike, say, my mother (who thinks it's stellar). of course, it would have been better if i'd won, but still...

Congratulations! Even though you didn't win that is still quite an amazing accomplishment! Maybe next time!!
