how to plow through

the sequel needs some serious fixing in the middle. my brain wants to play with something new because 1, it's sick of this story, 2, it hasn't written anything brand new in at least a month, and 3, avoiding it is easier. the temptation is to do a quick project, but the responsible part of me says i need to get the current project done (or at least this 2nd draft done) for me.

it doesn't help that the weather has been gray on and off for the last couple of weeks, or that other circumstances are making it difficult to write. maybe those are just excuses. maybe i just need to plow through.

so how do *you* plow through when you want to quit?

Oooo, your little graphic goes perfectly with my theme for today!

I get positive reinforcement from anywhere I can find it. I have a good friend who works with me - I call her the Cheer Princess. When I'm down, she tells me how great it will be and cheers me on until I feel better. So do all of you!

"Go! Go Mich-e-le! Go! Go! Michele!"

You've officially been cheered. Ha ha ha. :-)

Sometimes I actually take a little break. It can get really overwhelming to keep hammering away at something that is making me crazy. Usually, too, that short break revives me well enough and sometimes even offers me inspiration. But I have to be committed to keeping that break short. Good luck!! I know you can do it.
