Buried Treasure

i found
my heart
in the middle
of a novel,
struggling against
the dark and stormy night
in my soul,
chasing away
the lie--
"I CAN'T"--
fingers rattling across
the keyboard
of an old
laptop,
words rushing out like
an arizona flash
flood,
every sentence
bringing freedom,
surprised to find
the truth someone
already knew:
“you’re a story person”
