my report card says...

that i'm not playing well with others. in other words, it's time for this mom to get out of town. thankfully, i have a wonderful husband who encourages me to take some Michelle time.

this year, as i have for the last 5 or 6 years, i'm going to one of my favorite local places -- Gold Canyon Golf Resort.
the really nice thing is that, even though this place is expensive during the winter (Arizona tourist season), they have great deals during the summer (who would want to visit AZ when it's 110?).

the other nice thing about this place is that, although it's only 15 minutes away from my house, it's outside the city and i feel like i'm farther away from home than i really am.


they have these cute little casitas and i always get one with a patio so i can sit outside in the morning (before it's blazing hot) and listen to the desert wake up. once i even saw a pair of mule deer does just a few feet from my room, on their way to the golf course for breakfast.
