be inspired

Knowing that KM was going to feature my back cover blurb on Gzusfreek, I thought I should have a blog post ready in case someone decided to visit. I had all kinds of inspiring things I knew I could say. I had old posts about why I write and my writing journey.

None of it grabbed me. Then I found this poem that I’d posted on my old blog. A friend gave it to me a couple of years ago. It sums up my writing journey in just a few lines.

She Who Believes in Herself

Trusting her instincts was the hardest thing she ever did.
There was that wimpy little voice inside her,
Cautioning her not to take the risk.
There were times along the way
When she was so scared she almost quit.
But she listened to the whisperings of her heart.
She pushed forth with faith.
Faith in her skills
Faith in her work ethic
And faith in her knowledge that she could succeed.
And she did!
In the end, trusting her heart
Was the smartest thing she ever did!

Whatever your dreams are -- whether it's to write or paint or dance or create in some way -- I hope you will ignore the wimpy voice telling you to not risk. Instead, I hope you listen to the whisperings of your heart and push forth with faith to accomplish more than you ever imagined possible.
